I qualified from Edinburgh vet school before the millennium began and came to Cumbria where, despite the horrors of the 2001 Foot & Mouth epidemic, I developed a love for rural mixed practice, the people and landscape and became hefted like the sheep.
I have done other things along the way - raised a son, cared for older family members, studied theology, trained in holistic massage, developed my passion for the natural world but 25 years later, still find myself serving the people, livestock and pets of Eden and Border Vets in rural mixed practice on the Cumbrian border, where I live with my wife and a small and contented tribe of collies, cats and chickens.
